Durability Rating: (5/5)
It’s back! Last week, I started to post about our favorite winter toy, the Ruff Dawg K-9 Flyer. Unfortunately, before I had a chance to take many pictures, the toy went missing! We eventually found it, trapped under the deck, where I presumed it would stay until the snow melts, sometime in July by the looks of things here in Boston.
Well, this toy keeps coming back! Just as it has surprised us all winter long, it turned up again on the deck this Thursday! Talk about a durable AND persistent toy! My best guess is that Cassie must have chased a squirrel or three through a small opening in the snowbank to get under the deck, and wandered around till she found the K-9 Flyer. Good dog!
We can enthusiastically recommend this toy. As you can see from the photos, it gets rough play, and has held up very well. It’s very soft on the mouth, so the dogs are happy to try and catch it mid air… if only they had somebody who could throw well!
The one thing this toy doesn’t do is float. That’s probably why it’s gone under the radar here. When we did try it in the pool area, we had to go diving to retrieve it, so we used other frisbee type toys all summer, and left this one in the main yard, forgotten until the winter snows showed us it’s true potential. All I can say is this toy has been a huge help in getting us through the winter. Whenever the snow was too deep to get through, I could stand on the deck and throw this toy into the deep snow to give the dogs some real exercise. Yes, I got fat, but the dogs got nice and happily pooped out. And that’s the whole point, isn’t it?
